Russia Eyes Strengthening Relations with African Countries – Experts

Experts say that Russia is looking at building more mutual relationship with various African countries against United States Of America and European countries.
Speculations come at a time when the Moscow Foreign Minister Sergei Lovrov is on a state visit in Uganda.
It’s alleged that Lovrov will meet almost all other African country presidents or other diplomats through the African Union (AU) at the organization’s headquarters in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia although this meeting has not been scheduled yet.
It’s upon this background that Experts around the world are interpreting Lovrov visit to Africa as a way to extend the country’s influence on the continent.
However, before jetting in Yesterday, Lovrov revealed that first on his agenda on this particular visit is to thank African countries for not sidelining with Europe and USA by imposing economic sanctions following Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine.
Lovrov’s visit to Africa comes at a material time when France’s president Emmanuel Macron will be in Mali this very week.
Lovrov’s visit is expected to annoy other donors from Europe and USA who are hoping that Africans allegency may shift to Russia.
