Parliament has ordered the Attorney General to avail a report on allegations that security forces broke into the home of Soroti Woman Member of Parliament Anne Adeke Ebaju where several arrests were made prior to the recently concluded Soroti City East Constituency.
Among the arrested was opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi, several party MPs and others supporters.
The matter was raised by Kira Municipality MP and the FDC chief whip in the Parliament Ibrahim Semujju Nganda on floor of Parliament.
“Right honorable speaker I raise this because I am the FDC whip, I am supposed to be mobilizing MPs to come and attend parliament.” Ssemujju said as he wondered what guarantee MPs have about their security.
It’s about that background that the speaker Anitah Among asked Attorney General Kiryowa kiwanuka to investigate the matter and report to Parliament shortly. She further emphasized that her protection for her MPs is within the premises of the parliament.
Among stressed that the country embraces multiparty system of governance, political parties activities go on uninterrupted and observance of human rights.
