Ministry Of Works Wants 21.5Bn To Curb Rising Road Accidents.

State Minister of Roads Francis Musa Echweru says that his docket has embarked on revising means to reduce alarming numbers of Road accidents in the country.
Recent survey revealed that at least ten (10) perish in different road accidents every day on average in the country.
Musa Echweru however says that the numbers can be reduced if drivers take care while on the roads, avoid over speeding, stop driving while drunk, driving mechanically stable vehicles among other guild lines, also pedestrians be cautious while crossing or walking besides the roads.
Minister Echweru told Parliament that they need UGX 21.5 billion to draw a comprehensive plan on road safety among which include, maintaining roads with good standard, monitoring road users and sensitizing all people on road dangers and proper usage.
He believes that if such suggestions are implemented, by 2026 there will be reduced number of road accidents in country.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa who was presiding over the house referred the matter to the responsible committee of Parliament for deeper discussion
