Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of the Busoga Kingdom, Inebantu Jovia Mutesi and Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the former Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament and currently the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda will be the guests of honour at the 2024 PSFU Women’s Day Katale.
This development was revealed by Mr. Ronald Kirunda, the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) Head of Audit during a live TV interview with BaBa TV.
Mr Kirunda noted that the 2024 PSFU Women’s Day Katale slated for 15th to 17th March at Dam Waters Rugby Grounds Jinja will offer Women-founded and Women-led enterprises in Busoga a chance to showcase their products, services and innovations, network and acquire business development skills.
“The 2024 Katale is giving the people of Busoga a chance to showcase their products and services to the world. We expect over 300 exhibitors who will largely be women entrepreneurs. Minus the exhibition, the women in business will benefit from the different business clinics we have organized. Trade facilitation agencies and financial institutions will also be available to offer support to the participants. I call upon the people of Busoga to attend this event in big numbers as this is one way of supporting our women and girl child,” Kirunda said.
According to PSFU, the annual Katale is a marketplace of innovation, networking, digitization, crosscutting demand and supply opportunities. This initiative is supported by Young Africa Works (YAW) Lead Firm Structure program that is implemented in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
The third annual event to be held in Jinja builds on the success of the previous ‘Katales’ held in 2022 and 2023. The Women’s Day Katale debuted in Luwero district in 2022, drawing over 100 women-founded and women-led businesses. The second edition, hosted in Kampala in 2023, witnessed the participation of more than 250 women enterprises who showcased products, acquired business management skills, and delved into corporate governance.
Aligned with International Women’s Day celebrations, the Katale is an annual event that acknowledges the significant contributions and potential of women and girls as entrepreneurs. It serves as a platform for young individuals to network, connect with potential customers, and expand their customer base.
Simultaneously, women entrepreneurs seize the opportunity to learn, enhance their skills, and build capacity across various business aspects. During the Katale, women and girl entrepreneurs exhibit their products and services at no cost, engage in networking activities, acquire marketing skills, and have the chance to sell their products directly to the audience during the exhibition.
