UNEB Warns Of Conmen Ahead Of UCE 2020 Exam Results Release

Written by on July 29, 2021

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned all school headteachers and the general public against conmen as the 2020 UCE examinations results lie in the pipeline for release. This warning was sounded by the UNEB Executive Director, Dan Odongo in a Press Statement today.
According to Odongo, UNEB has learnt of some conmen that are extorting colossal sums of money from unsuspecting headteachers under the pretext that UNEB shall withhold results of such schools due to their purported involvement in various forms of examination malpractice.
“UNEB would like to condemn such acts of extortion by these unscrupulous people, and hereby warns the head teachers and the general public not to allow themselves to be hoodwinked and exploited,” Odongo warned.
This comes after the announcement by the same body, UNEB, of confirmation to release the Uganda Certificate of Education  (UCE) 2020 results on Friday July 30.
Odongo clarified that in case results of schools have been withheld due to suspected examination malpractice, UNEB notifies in writing the affected schools as well as the District Education officials.  The affected schools are thereafter invited to appear before the relevant committee of the Board to be accorded a fair hearing after which results are either released or canceled according to the verdict reached.
Odongo further called upon the members of the public to work with UNEB to stamp out these criminal acts that tend to undermine the credibility of Uganda’s education system.
“The people masquerading to do work on behalf of UNEB should be reported to us and to the Police, to ensure that they are tracked, arrested and charged accordingly,” said Odongo.
The 2020 UCE examinations results will be officially released tomorrow  (Friday) by the minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet K. Museveni. This will be made possible in an event to be hosted scientifically at the State House, Nakasero and expected to commence at 12:00 noon.
It shall also be broadcast on all National radios and TV stations plus, streamed live on the UNEB social media platforms.
