44 Kakumiro COVID-19 Suspects Discharged.

Written by on July 7, 2020

44 COVID-19 suspects who have been under quarantine at St Kizito Primary School in Kakumiro town council have been discharged.

The suspects were discharged on Tuesday morning by health officials after they all tested negative for COVID-19.

Health officials and the COVID-19 Taskforce in the district placed the suspects under quarantine on June 26, 2020, after they were suspected to have come into close contact with a 30-year-old man who tested positive for the virus in the district on June 24.

The patient is among the 16 confirmed cases from 3,455 samples tested on June, 24.

The victim had come from Kasese with intentions of starting a Non-government Organization – NGO in Kakumiro town council.

After taking his samples, the victim chose to self-quarantine but later disappeared to an unknown destination after realizing that his result turned positive for COVID-19, causing tension among residents.

He was however later traced and intercepted in Bwera in Kasese district where he is undergoing treatment currently.

Apollo Mugume, the Kakumiro Resident District Commissioner says that health officials and the district COVID-19 Taskforce decided to release the suspects from the quarantine centre after all their blood samples tested negative for the disease.
